How to Deploy My Own Hermes Node

Hi team,

In the documentation it says:

“Alternatively, you can host Pythnet RPC yourself, but this is discouraged due to the potential high cost and maintenance involved in operating it. If you still wish to run it, please contact the Pyth team for more information.”

I’m still interested in learning what is required to self-host hermes node, and would like to ask for some basic guidance.

1. What hardware is needed?

2. What software or environment is required?

3. What are the basic steps to deploy and maintain a node?

If there is any documentation or reference material available, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hey,

Overall while it was recommended in the past, I would not recommend it nowadays as it’s too much work / value spent while you have some professional service providers offering the service here: https://docs.pyth.network/price-feeds/core/api-instances-and-providers/hermes#node-providers

And also we have avoided to provide support to this.

All in all it’s akin to classic Solana in terms of hardware / specs

Likely we’ll stop even have this part in our docs
